Victorville , CA : Two men were injured in a hit-and-run crash at near the intersection of Bear Valley and Amethyst roads on Wednesday ,April 20th, 2016
Authorities said two men were injured in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night.
The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Bear Valley and Amethyst roads. Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said a man on a motorcycle, identified as Eric Outland, 54, of Adelanto, struck an 83-year-old
Victorville man walking in front of CVS Pharmacy on Amethyst Road.
The elderly man, who was in a marked crosswalk in the parking lot of the pharmacy, was knocked to the ground. Outland reportedly accelerated away from him and began to head onto Bear Valley Road. However, Outland lost control of his
motorcycle and flipped over the handlebars, Rodriguez said. The motorcycle then ran him over and dragged him a short distance down the roadway.
The elderly man complained of hip pain and was taken to Desert Valley Hospital, while Outland lost consciousness for a short period of time following the crash. Rodriguez said Outland appeared to have a broken jaw, lacerations to his lips, and
teeth knocked out from the impact. He was initially also taken to Desert Valley Hospital but then flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, Rodriguez said, and Outland will likely face charges for hit-and-run causing injury with possible additional charges once the investigation is complete.
The crash is under investigation by the Victorville Sheriff’s Station.
