Montgomery, AL : Woman dead in crash involving Wetumpka police car identified on Saturday, 22nd October 2016

One person was killed in a Saturday afternoon crash involving a Wetumpka police cruiser and another vehicle.

The police officer suffered severe injuries in the crash, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Elaine Merritt, 52, died when the 2016 Honda Pilot she was driving crashed into the officer's 2010 Dodge Charger.

Merritt was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The crash occurred at Cambridge Drive and U.S. Highway 231.

State Troopers are investigating the incident.
