Salt Lake City, UT : 37-year-old man died in vehicle rolleover crash on Friday January 1 2016.
A 37-year-old man died from injuries he sustained when the car he was driving the wrong way on the 900 South on-ramp to I-15 collided with a road barrier and rolled Friday morning.
Carl Olsen, of Taylorsville, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Beau Mason.
Mason said the car got on the 900 South on-ramp and traveled south in the northbound lanes to about 1300 South. The vehicle lost control, struck a concrete wall and rolled, ejecting Olsen from the vehicle.
The crash, which occurred about 7:20 a.m., blocked traffic for several hours as police investigated.
Mason said traffic was light Friday morning.
Nobody else was injured, and there were no head-on collisions so we were fortunate," he said.
Mason said damage to the car suggested Olsen likely would have survived if he had worn a seat belt.
I’m almost positive he would have survived this, maybe even been uninjured," Mason said.
