Blue Grass, IL : Two Davenport men killed in accident on U.S. 61 early Thursday morning, August 4, 2016

Two Davenport men are dead after an early morning crash Thursday on U.S. 61 at the 107 mile marker.

Zachary Robert Whitsel, 36, and Charles Frank Dibbern, 51, were pronounced dead at the scene. They were both alone in their vehicles, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol website.

The Iowa State Patrol said it responded to a call at 4:26 a.m. According to the crash report, Mr. Whistel's vehicle was traveling north in the southbound lane for unknown reasons.

After the vehicles collided, Mr. Whitsel's vehicle came to rest in the median shoulder and Mr. Dibbern's vehicle came to rest in the roadway.

Sheriff's offices from Scott and Muscatine counties assisted at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
