ELLSWORTH, WI : Plum City man hurt in ATV crash on Thursday, June 8, 2017

A Plum City area man walked home after crashing his ATV but then had to be flown to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Gerald L. Bemis, 74, lost control of the vehicle while riding on a trail Thursday morning on his own land along 76th Street in the town of Maiden Rock, according to a Pierce County sheriff’s news release.The ATV overturned, and Bemis struck his head. He was not wearing a helmet.

He walked back to his house but was then taken by helicopter to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
