TUSCUMBIA, AL : Barton woman dies in wreck on Thursday, 22nd March 2018

A Colbert County woman died this afternoon from injuries she received in a two-car collision.

Tuscumbia police are not identifying the woman because they want to make sure her relatives are notified. They did say the woman, 54, is from Barton.

The wreck occurred at 12:24 p.m. today on U.S. 72 in Tuscumbia. According to police reports, the woman was crossing the highway from Dollar General when her vehicle and a truck collided.

A passenger in her vehicle, as well as the husband and wife in the truck were taken to Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield. There was no word on their conditions.

The woman died at Huntsville Hospital where she was transported by air ambulance.

The Tuscumbia Police Department is investigating the crash.
