Harris Township, OH : One teen dead, one injured in early morning crash in Ottawa County on Sunday on State Route 105, August 10, 2014
A young teen is dead after being ejected from an SUV during a crash in Ottawa County.
The accident happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday on State Route 105.
The driver, 18-year-old Austin M. Limpf of Curtice, told police he was traveling westbound when he fell asleep.
His GMC Yukon swerved off the right side of the road. Limpf then overcorrected and veered off of the left side of the road. The vehicle overturned several times before coming to rest on it's wheels.
A 14-year-old girl, who was a front seat passenger, was ejected as the SUV flipped. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Bay Park Hospital, where he was treated and released.
The accident shut down State Route 105 for about four hours, but the road is open again.
The crash is still being investigated, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
