Colfax ,IA: Car drifts over centerline hits other car head-on in fatal crash on Thursday afternoon ,July 30th 2015

A Newton woman was killed Thursday in a head-on crash in Jasper County.

The crash was reported on road F48 east of Colfax about 3:50 p.m.

An Iowa State Patrol crash report shows a Chevy Cruze driven by Mandy Matlock, 32, of Prairie City, was eastbound on the road and crossed the centerline of the road and hit another car head-on.

The other car, a Buick Century, was driven by Joanne Hunter, 83, of Newton. She was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in Hunter's car, Betty Johnson, 91, of Newton, was hurt and taken to Skiff Medical Center.

Matlock was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines with her infant who was restrained in the back seat. The child was not seriously hurt, according to the crash report.

The crash remains under investigation.
