Mansfield, TX : Man, woman injured after driver crashes into sign, starts gas fire in Arlington early Wednesday, November 9, 2016

Authorities say a man and woman were injured after a driver hit a gas line and then crashed into a strip mall sign early Wednesday in Arlington.

The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the gas line and the Matlock Mayfield Village sign just after midnight in the 3300 block of Matlock Road.

He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
A female passenger was also injured in the crash. She was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
After the crash, a gas fire erupted from the severed gas line.

Authorities closed southbound Matlock Road while responding to the incident. Oncor officials cut off power to the area for a short time before restoring power.
