Ocala ,FL : Three people killed and two other injured after single vehicle Rollover Crash on Sunday morning ,May 17th 2015
Five people were thrown from their vehicle early Sunday morning in the Ocala National Forest, killing three, officials said.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the crash happened around 3:00 a.m. Sunday, but wasn't discovered until 8:43 a.m.
The single-vehicle rollover occurred in the 21000 block of SE 127 Street Road in Umatilla, Fire Rescue officials said. Three were declared dead at the scene while two others were flown by helicopter to a trauma center.
Troopers believe the driver, 39-year-old Billy Jo Slayton-Neal, lost control and the vehicle flipped several times before coming to rest on its side on a remote stretch of dirt road in the forest.
FHP says Slayton-Neal, 43-year-old Scott Pummill and 13-year-old Rachael Pummill died at the scene of the crash.
Two others, 16-year-old Jessie Porter and 14-year-old Haley Landrum survived and are in serious and critical condition, respectively.
Fire Rescue officials said the cause of the accident is unknown and is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP reports no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt. They are looking into whether or not alcohol was involved.
