DUNLAP, IN : Moped driver hospitalized after accident on Friday, October, 27th 2017
An moped driver was hospitalized for a possible broken leg after an accident with a car just south of Elkhart Friday.Tony Jones, 36, of Elkhart, was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for a possibly broken left leg after his moped collided with a car on U.S. 33 south of C.R. 13. The accident a half mile south of the Elkhart city limits happened around 2:18 p.m., according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, which responded.Jones was riding his 2008 Kymco People northbound on U.S. 33 in the rightmost lane when it collided with a 2007 Cadillac CTS driven by Axel Pelaez, 23, of Elkhart. Pelaez was southbound in the center turn lane of U.S. 33 when he made a left turn across the northbound lane.Pelaez was wearing a seat belt and was not reported injured.The Cadillac sustained front-end damage and the moped was totaled. Both drivers were issued citations after the crash.
