Naples, FL : Naples man driving golf cart killed when truck backs into him on Thursday, 16th April, 2020 15 mins ago

A 72-year-old Naples man died when a truck backed into the golf cart he was driving Thursday.

Dennis Barefoot was driving the golf cart east along Flounder Drive in East Naples about noon. At the same time, Sergio Ortega Silva, 51, was backing up a Waste Management Truck west on Flounder near Pier I, Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The back of the truck hit the front of the golf cart, state police reported. The crash was in a neighborhood west of U.S. 41 East and near Bayshore Drive.

The crash remains under investigation.
