St. Francisville, LA : Michael Bilowich, 69, dead after a four-vehicle crash in West Feliciana Parish on Friday, March 24, 2017

A man is dead after a four-vehicle crash in West Feliciana Parish on Friday.

Louisiana State Police identified the victim as Michael Bilowich, 69, of St. Francisville. Investigators said three other people suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Troopers reported it happened on US 61 south of LA 66 near St. Francisville around 2:30 p.m.

Sgt. Jared Sandifer with LSP said what investigators know so far is a 2009 Ford Fusion driven by Jalen Cavalier, 18, of St. Francisville, was headed south on US 61 when it crossed the center line. He noted investigators have not yet determined what caused the car to cross into the opposite lane.

According to Sandifer, a 1999 GMC Suburban driven by Kory White, 40, of Jackson, swerved to avoid hitting the Ford Fusion. He added the two vehicles did not collide, but the Suburban went off the road and flipped.

Sandifer stated the Ford Fusion did hit the 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander that Bilowich was driving and then the car collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Impala driven by Lakesha Walker, 25, of Woodville, MS.

Investigators said despite wearing a seat belt, Bilowich was seriously injured in the crash. They added he was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Officials reported the other three people injured were also properly buckled up. They added Walker and White went to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Cavalier is at Our Lady of the Lake with moderate injuries, officials said.

Investigators said they don’t yet know if impairment was a factor in the crash, but blood samples were taken from all of the drivers and those will be sent for processing.

The crash remains under investigation and charges may be pending.
