Phil Campbell,AL : Haleyville woman died in wreck on may, friday 5th 2017
A Winston County woman was killed when the car she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer truck Friday morning.
Senior Trooper Johnathan Appling, a public information for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, identified the victim as Hannah Dianne Bridgmon, 20, of Haleyville.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin County Coroner Elzie Malone.
He said Bridgmon died from multiple head trauma.
Appling said Bridgmon was driving a 2015 Dodge that collided with a 1997 Kenworth tractor trailer truck.
He said the driver of the truck, Jared Nicholas James, 27, Tuscumbia, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Emergency personnel at the scene said James was not seriously injured.
Applying said the accident happened on Alabama 13, about four miles south of Phil Campbell.
“When I rolled up, I knew it wasn’t good,” said Phil Campbell Volunteer Fire Chief Mike Rice.
He said Bridgmon’s vehicle was off the road and upside down.
Rice said because witnesses thought vehicle might catch on fire, the victim had been pulled from the vehicle.
Authorities said Bridgmon was traveling north toward Phil Campbell while James was hauling a load of grain in the tractor trailer truck, going south toward Haleyville.
Emergency personnel at the scene said the two vehicles hit driver’s side door to driver’s door.
Rice said after the collision both vehicles went off the roadway.
Officials said Bridgmon’s car hit a ditch and flipped over.
The wreck caused traffic to detoured around the area for nearly four hours.
The accident remains under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Quad-Cities State Troopers.
