Oklahoma city, OK : Semi driver talks after slamming into overpass on Tuesday afternoon, June 3, 2014
A truck crash closed the May Avenue bridge over Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City on Tuesday afternoon.
Traffic on the eastbound lanes of the highway were diverted at May Avenue. The westbound lanes remained open.
The truck, which was carrying three tank batteries, hit the bridge, knocking two batteries off the truck and wedging the third one under the bridge, police said.
Traffic backup was substantial while the bridge was inspected. A structural engineer determined there was no major damage and the bridge remained safe.
All lanes of May Avenue and Northwest Expressway were reopened as of 6:30 p.m.
