Jacksonville, FL : Driver suffers serious injuries in I-295 crash near Wilson Boulevard on the Westside on Monday morning, October 13, 2014
A 48-year-old woman was in serious condition after the car she was driving hit a grass-cutting device on the shoulder of Interstate 295 and flipped Monday morning.
The crash happened just after 11:30 a.m. on I-295 near Wilson Boulevard on the Westside.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Sharon Lynn Parker was driving a Hyundai Sonata southbound on I-295 in the right lane and drifted onto the right shoulder. The car clipped the left rear of a grass-cutting device, which was being pulled by a tractor driven by Marvin Terrel Brewer.
Parker's car spun and the right rear hit the mower again and the car was deflected back onto the roadway where it flipped and landed in the center travel lane facing oncoming traffic.
The tractor and mower were also pushed onto the roadway in the wreck.
Parker was transported to UF Health with serious injuries.
Lanes were blocked for more than an hour, but all were reopened by 1 p.m. Monday.
