Victorville, CA : Two people injured in head-on crash at intersection of Hesperia Road, Cherry Hill Drive Thursday afternoon, February 23, 2017

Authorities said two people suffered minor injuries after a head-on crash Thursday afternoon.

The crash, which occurred at the intersection of Hesperia Road and Cherry Hill Drive, was reported just after 2 p.m. and involved a gray Ford Taurus and a gray Chevy Avalanche.

Victorville Sheriff's Station Deputy Mark Chavez said the crash occurred as a man in the Taurus was headed south on Hesperia Road and entered the left turning lane as he approached the intersection.

For reasons still unknown, he entered the northbound lanes of Hesperia Road and collided with the Avalanche, which was traveling north, Chavez said.

The man in the Taurus and his passenger suffered minor to moderate injuries and were transported by ground to Victor Valley Global Medical Center. No other injuries were reported.

The crash blocked the intersection for about an hour and Sheriff's officials on scene were directing traffic in both directions as the scene was investigated.
