Tampa, FL : One person injured and Andres Alvarez arrested after hit-and-run pedestrian collision in South Tampa on Monday, February 1, 2016
On Monday afternoon a man was arrested after crashing into MacDill Air Force base and hitting pedestrian.
Around 2:30 p.m. on February 1, witnesses called to report a blue Maserati driving up and down MacDill Avenue at a high rate of speed. Eventually the driver, later identified as Andres Alvarez, pulled into a parking lot at MacDill Avenue and Marcum Street and an off duty police officer, was able to direct other officers to the location.
Officers arrived on scene and found Alvarez passed out behind the wheel with the car running.
It was later determined that the Maserati was also involved in a hit-and-run accident at Bayshore Boulevard and Alline Avenue West. He also crashed into the MacDill Air Force Base gates prior to this incident.
Alvarez has been charged with a DUI, leaving the scene of a crash and property damage.
