Beaumont,TX : Beaumont man with fatal gunshot wound found at car crash on October, Tuesday 10th 2017
A 23-year-old Beaumont man was found dead from a gunshot wound at the scene of a car crash in Jefferson County early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the call around 4 a.m. on U.S. 90, just west of Meeker Road, according to a department statement.
For an unknown reason, a 21-year-old driver in a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was traveling westbound on U.S. 90, veered off the road and hit several trees, according to the statement given to BeaumontEnterprise.com.
Justice of the Peace Judge Ray Chesson pronounced Chase Taylor dead at the scene. Taylor, who was in the front passenger seat, had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the right side of his head, according to a statement from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
A handgun was found in Taylor's lap, the statement said. Chesson has ordered an autopsy.
