Brighton Township, MI : One dead after snowmobile crash on Brighton area lake on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017
One person is dead after a snowmobile crash on Sunday, Jan. 8 in Livingston County's Brighton Township.
Officials were called about 4:08 p.m. Sunday to Woodland Lake after witnesses saw a snowmobile crash into the Woodland Shore Drive bridge, according to Michigan State Police.
The snowmobile was headed southbound on the frozen lake at a high rate of speed at the time, witnesses told police.
Despite life-saving efforts, the driver of the snowmobile - a 48-year-old Brighton resident - died at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation and it was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
Michigan State Police Brighton Post, Brighton Fire Department, Livingston County EMS all responded to the crash.
