Kerman, CA : Mendota woman killed in a two-car crash Highway 180 west of Kerman on Saturday night, May 7, 2016

A 43-year-old Mendota woman died Saturday night in a two-car crash west of Kerman on Highway 180, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred about 11:30 p.m. as the woman, not yet identified, was eastbound on 180 west of Lake Avenue in a 1993 Honda. The CHP said that for an unknown reason, the woman drove onto the right shoulder and then made a U-turn. She was broadsided by a 2003 Honda that was eastbound behind the first car. The Mendota woman died at the scene from the impact. The driver of the 2003 Honda, Rose Medina-Nava, 46, of Kerman, sustained minor injuries, as did a passenger in the Mendota woman’s car. The collision is under investigation.
