Los Angeles, CA : Woman struck and killed while walking in lanes on U.S. 101 in Hollywood on Tuesday, November 11, 2014

The California Highway Patrol says a woman walking across a Los Angeles freeway has been hit by a car and killed. CHP Officer Anthony Polizzi says authorities received a call at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday of a pedestrian in southbound lanes on U.S. 101 in Hollywood. Polizzi says by the time officers responded about 20 minutes later, the woman had been struck. The victim, described as approximately 50 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two lanes remain closed at the investigation site, and rush hour traffic is backed up for several miles. Officials say the driver who hit the woman stopped.
