Newark, DE : 12 hurt in school bus crash at Middle school in Newark on Tuesday morning, December 23, 2014

Eleven Newark middle-school students were taken to a hospital with minor injuries after the school bus they were on hit a light pole.

Delaware State Police say the crash happened Tuesday morning in a parking lot at the Shue Medill School in Newark. They say the bus had about 25 students on board when the driver, 60-year-old Arlene Holden of Newark, swerved the bus after being cut off by a car. The bus then hit a light pole in the parking lot.

New Castle County Paramedics say 11 students and Holden complained of minor injuries, including back pain and soft tissue injuries. All were taken to the hospital.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash.
