GULFPORT, MS : Hit-and-run victim identified as Gulfport man on Wednesday, March 15th 2017

The pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run accident late Wednesday night has now been identified as a Gulfport man. Coroner Gary Hargrove said Lawrence Duckworth, 53, was pronounced dead just after 11pm at Garden Park Hospital.

Gulfport Police Sgt. Joshua Bromen said someone found the man lying in the road on Polk St. near Ohio Ave. around 10:10 p.m. and called police. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance but later died.

Bromen said the hit-and-run is being investigated by the Gulfport Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit.
