Hickory, NC : 35-year-old man dead in a hit-and-run crash on Monday morning August 18th 2014

The Highway Patrol is trying to unravel a highway hit-and-run which claimed the life of a man in Catawba County. Area media outlets report that the body of 35-year-old John Morrison of Mountain View was found shortly before 7 a.m. on Monday on U.S. 321. The patrol was alerted by a passing trucker. Patrol officers found parts of a Honda Civic near the accident scene. But they later determined that the Honda tire tracks were about a week old and that vehicle parts were there before Monday's accident. Authorities say they are not sure what type of vehicle was involved in the incident and say the driver may have hit the victim without realizing it.
