Lisbon ,ME:One man allegedly Crashed Stolen Truck into Rive during police Chase on Friday ,April 10th 2015
A police officer said a chase involving a man allegedly driving a stolen truck ended Friday in the Androscoggin River.
Lisbon police said Officer Ryan McGee was checking businesses early Friday morning in the area of Capital Avenue when he noticed a truck usually parked next to the Restorations Home Remodeling Business was missing.
McGee said he then saw the truck traveling on Capital Avenue and turning on to Route 196.
McGee followed the truck, which he said was being driven by Tony St. Pierre, 44. Police describe St. Pierre as a transient. They said he previously lived in Augusta.
Officials added that St. Pierre was released from the Kennebec County Jail on Thursday night.
McGee said he attempted to stop St. Pierre, but man was driving at a high rate of speed.
Police said St. Pierre lost control of the truck on Canal Street. The truck went through the guardrail and crashed down an 80-foot riverbank, police said.
