Longview, WA : 42-year-old Castle Rock man dies in Toutle area crash on Monday evening, January 23, 2017

A 42-year-old Castle Rock man died Monday evening and a Silver Lake man was taken to the hospital after a car accident that occurred two miles west of Toutle, according to a Washington State Patrol press release.

The Castle Rock man, who has been identified as Andy R. Dunnavant, was driving eastbound on Spirit Lake Memorial Highway while another vehicle, which was driven by 18-year-old Devin W. Hooper, was westbound near milepost 8.5.

Shortly after 8 p.m., Dunnavant, 42, crossed the center line into westbound traffic and collided head-on with Hooper, according to the WSP. Dunnavant died on scene, and Hooper was transported to St. John Medical Center in Longview, according to the release.

Hooper was in satisfactory condition at St. John as of late Tuesday afternoon.
