Del City, OK : Two people injured after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 40 in Del City early Sunday morning, December 20, 2015

Two people are in critical condition after a crash early Sunday morning in Del City.

The crash was reported just before 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 40 eastbound at Sunnylane Road.

Police said a pickup was driving westbound in an eastbound inside lane of I-40 when it collided head-on with another pickup.

The drivers of each vehicle were pinned in their vehicles and extricated by Del City Fire Department crews.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report said the driver going the wrong way on I-40 had an odor of alcohol.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The 29-year-old driver in the wrong-way vehicle has not yet been identified. Cheyenne Malick, 23, of Midwest City, was identified as the other driver involved in the crash.
