Baltimore, MD : Two people injured in head-on crash in Glen Burnie on Thursday night, December 17, 2015
A woman was killed and another was injured Thursday night in a two-car crash in Glen Burnie.
County police said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
When police and fire units responded shortly after 10:30 p.m. to Point Pleasant Road and Genine Drive, they found a Mercury Grand Marquis and Dodge Caliber had collided, police said.
A passenger in the Mercury, Latasha Beulah Jones, 46, of Glen Burnie, was trapped and had to be extricated. She was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she was declared dead, police said.
The driver of the Dodge, 20-year-old Emily Orme, of Glen Burnie, was transported to Harbor Hospital in Baltimore with minor injuries, police said.
The driver of the Grand Marquis, 40-year-old Todd Hannahs, of Glen Burnie, wasn't injured, police said.
Witnesses told investigators the Mercury was westbound on Point Pleasant Road when the driver started swerving, ultimately "spinning out" and crossing the center line, police said. The eastbound Dodge struck the Mercury squarely in the passenger's side door, police said.
The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be the Mercury driver's failure to remain right of center, police said. Contributing circumstances were the damp roadway and alcohol use by the driver of the Mercury, police said.
The crash remains under investigation. Any charges are pending review by the Anne Arundel State's Attorney's Office, police said.
