Hot Springs, AR : A Hot Springs man died from injuries sustained in a collision on Tuesday, 1st May 2018
A Hot Springs man died from injuries sustained in a collision with an 18-wheeler Tuesday afternoon on Highway 70 east just west of the rest area, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash summary.
Charles Gold, 79, of Hot Springs, driving a 2002 Lexus, was westbound on Highway 70 shortly before 3:30 p.m. when he reportedly veered across the center turn lane into the eastbound lane where he collided with the left rear of a 2015 International, causing the Lexus to rotate.
A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was also westbound and collided with the passenger side of the International in the eastbound lane. (State police have since corrected the report to state that the pickup truck collided with the passenger side of the Lexus, not the International).
Gold was airlifted to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs where he later died. No other injuries were reported in the wreck. The report notes road conditions were clear and dry but the wreck occurred in a construction zone.
