Bethel Township, DE : Cumberland County man killed in Bethel Township crash to the 2000 block of Camp Swatara Road on Wednesday, 24th October 2018

A Cumberland County man was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon in Bethel Township, according to police.

Crews were dispatched about 4 p.m. to the 2000 block of Camp Swatara Road, which is also Route 645, to a vehicle accident with entrapment.

According to Bethel Township police:

A man in his 40s from Lemoyne was northbound on Route 645 when his car drifted into the southbound lane. His car hit a southbound pickup truck driven by a man in his 30s from Jonestown, Lebanon County.

The Berks County coroner's office was dispatched to the crash and pronounced the Lemoyne man dead at the scene. The Jonestown man was transported to Reading Hospital with unknown injuries.

Police did not release the names of the drivers.

A crash reconstruction team was sent to the scene. Camp Swatara Road was reopened shortly after 7 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
