MARYSVILLE, CA : 2 killed in head-on crash on Highway 70 on Monday, 29th March 2021
Two people are dead after a head-on collision on Highway 70 between Oroville and Marysville.
Around 6:18 a.m. Monday, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a call of a Ford F250 going southbound on Highway 70, south of Lower Honcut Rd., swerving between lanes and driving at high speeds.
Just minutes after, the F250 collided with a Ford Explorer going northbound, just north of Chandler Rd.
The crash pushed the Ford Explorer off the east shoulder, and it turned over and caught fire, according to the CHP. The F250 overturned in the northbound lane and hit a Lexus RX350 that was traveling northbound on Highway 70.
The drivers of both Fords died before paramedics arrived, according to CHP. The driver of the F250 was a 38-year-old man from Paradise. The driver of the Explorer was a 31-year-old man from Yuba City.
The Lexus driver was uninjured, and the driver was identified by the CHP as 41-year-old Dung Trung Huynh of San Jose.
The CHP said the use of alcohol or drugs in this collision is unknown at this time.
