Anderson,SC : Wrong-way driver killed after striking pickup truck head-on in Anderson Co. on June, Monday 5th 2017
The coroner said a Georgia man was killed in a wrong way crash on I-85 in Anderson County Monday night.
Troopers reported that the collision occurred around 9 p.m. near mile marker 9 approximately 8.9 miles south of Pendleton.
Per trooper reports, a driver in a Buick was traveling north in southbound lane and struck a Chevy pickup truck head-on.
The driver in the pickup truck and the passenger were not injured.
The driver in the Buick did succumb to injuries sustained in the collision, troopers say. The driver was wearing a seat belt and became entrapped after striking the pickup truck head-on.
On Tuesday, Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore identified the victim as 66-year-old Gerald Freeman of Lilburn, GA.
Shore said an external exam was being performed and toxicology testing was underway Tuesday to aid in the investigation.
