1 dead in motorcycle crash on south in Chula Vista California

A 43-year-old Imperial Beach man was killed in a motorcycle crash on a South Bay freeway exit ramp Friday, authorities said.

The man's body and heavily damaged motorcycle were found along the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to E Street about 6:15 a.m., although it was unknown when the crash occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

The rider of a 2008 Honda CBR1000 was traveling at an unknown speed and was unable to negotiate the turn on the off-ramp, then crashed and was thrown from his vehicle, CHP Officer Tommy Doerr said.

He died at the scene, authorities said. His name was withheld pending family notification.One lane of the E Street offramp was temporarily closed due to the accident, and a Sig Alert was lifted shortly after 9 a.m.
