New Castle, IN : Four Ohio University students injured in van crash ON I-70 in Henry County on Monday, February 16, 2015
Four Ohio University students, including one from Dayton, were injured or shaken up Monday when the van they were in with two other OU students slid 389 feet off an Indiana interstate, continued down an embankment and ended up a deep ravine.
Camry Carey, 19, of Dayton complained of pain and was treated and released at Henry County Memorial Hospital.
Preselah Seymore, 18 of Atlanta, was treated at the same hospital after also complaining of pain from the accident reported about 3:10 p.m. off I-70 in Henry County, just west of the New Castle exit, the Indiana State Patrol said.
Daniel Michaud, 18 of Euclid, was the driver and told police he was not injured. Police said Michaud told them he was heading east when he lost control on the ice-covered roadway. The van then went off the side of the road, over the embankment, and into a tree.
Two other passengers in the far back seat were seriously hurt. They were Catherine Bailey, 20 of Athens, Ohio, who suffered a concussion, and Andrew Williams, 20 of Zanesville, who suffered a broken leg. Both were taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Neither Bailey nor Williams were wearing seat belts, state Trooper Scott Keegan said, but everyone else in the van was belted in, which reduced their injuries.
