LAGRANGE COUNTY, IN : Man dies after driver falls asleep in LaGrange County crash on Thursday, 27th June 2024

A 53-year-old Ligonier man has died from his injuries in a crash early Thursday morning in LaGrange County.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. in the 5400 block of S. State Road 5 in Topeka.

Deputies say a 74-year-old Syracuse man was heading south on State Road 5 in a Dodge Caravan when they believe he fell asleep and crossed into the opposite lane.

The driver of a Pontiac Montana, a 61-year-old Ligonier man, told deputies he tried to avoid the oncoming Caravan but was unsuccessful.
