ALBANY, NY : A 21-year-old man was hospitalized with minor injuries on Monday, June 26, 2017
A 21-year-old man was hospitalized with minor injuries Monday after he led state police on a car chase through Albany that ended in a crash and foot chase, officials said.
The chase began when a state police trooper attempted to stop a speeding Jeep on Interstate 90 near Exit 4, State Police trooper Mark Cepiel. Instead of pulling over, the driver led police on a chase that ended with his Jeep rolling over at Watervliet Avenue Extension near the Spectrum News building.
He then attempted to run away, but was quickly caught, Cepiel said.
He was taken to the hospital with a minor injury.
"It's unknown at the moment why the operator fled, however he only has a permit," Cepiel said.
Charges are still pending. More details, including the driver's name, are expected to be released Monday afternoon.
