Phoenix, AZ : 1 killed, 3 injured in I-17 wreck after car flies off road on Friday, March 24, 2017

One person is dead and three are seriously injured after a car veered off the Interstate 17 frontage road and onto the southbound lanes of the highway, colliding with several vehicles before coming to a stop.

DPS says a small car tried to use a left-turn lane near Grant Street to go straight on Friday. A commercial truck was turning when the smaller car tried to outrun it.

The car lost control, crashed into a fence and traveled down a concrete embankment.

It then entered southbound I-17 and was struck by a pickup truck and two cars.

The driver and passenger of the pickup were seriously injured. The driver of the small car, a 65-year-old man, died at the hospital. His passenger was seriously injured.

Police are looking for the driver of the commercial truck.
