Dodge City, KS : Larned woman hurt in three-vehicle crash involving tractor and semi on Tuesday, February 21, 2017
A Larned woman driving a Ford passenger car was injured in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday that also involved a John Deere tractor and a semi.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the 2001 semi was driven by Levi R. Crick, 25, Cimarron, the 2001 Ford was driven by Jane M. Underwood, 23, Larned, and the 2008 John Deere tractor was driven by Timothy S. Sanko, 40, Spearville.
All were traveling west on U.S. 50 in Ford County about 12 miles east of Dodge City at about 3 p.m.
The Patrol said the Ford moved into the eastbound lane to pass the tractor, but the driver decided not to pass after seeing cars coming from the other direction. The Ford slowed down to pull back into the westbound lane and was struck from behind by the semi.
The semi pushed the Ford into the right rear corner of the tractor, and the Ford continued into the ditch, where it came to rest on all four tires facing west. The tractor and truck both stopped on the westbound shoulder, facing west.
Crick and Sanko were not injured, but Underwood was taken to Western Plains Regional with injuries. Crick and Underwood had on seat belts, but Sanko – on the tractor – was unrestrained.
