York County, SC : Suspected drunk driver collides head-on with York Co. deputy on Sunday morning, May 10, 2015

A York County deputy was struck by a suspected drunk driver early Sunday morning, officials say.

The incident happened just after 12 a.m. on North Cherry Road near the Home Depot shopping area.

According to the York County Sheriff's Office, the deputy was parked in the median with his lights on when the driver hit his patrol car head on.

The deputy has been identified as Sgt. Buddy Brown. He was treated for minor injuries and is OK.

Suspect Cesar Cortez is charged with DUI, according to investigators.

Dash cam video shows the vehicle crossing into the median and crashing into the patrol car.

Cortez was also taken to the hospital.

The crash is under investigation by South Carolina Highway Patrol.
