Wesley Chapel, FL : Woman dies from injuries after collision on I-75 exit in Wesley Chapel on Monday, June 6, 2016

A 38-year-old Wesley Chapel woman died this week after another driver slammed into the back of her sedan on an Interstate 75 exit, authorities said.

The woman, Stephanie Lance Nicholas, was stopped Monday for traffic in the right-turn lane leading to State Road 54 when a Ford SUV crashed into the back of her Mercedes, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. The impact pushed the Mercedes into a 2007 Mazda 3, causing a chain-reaction crash involving two other vehicles, troopers said.

Nicholas was taken to Florida Hospital and later died, troopers said. The driver of the Ford, 34-year-old Jason Pleaz Edwards, was seriously injured and taken to the same hospital for treatment.

The Mazda driver, Heather M. Stillman, 31, of Lutz, was treated at Florida Hospital for minor injuries. Drivers in the two other cars were treated at the scene.

Charges in the case are pending, troopers said.
