Fresno, CA : 2-year-old Kapolei boy killed in California crash on Wednesday, 18th July 2018

Tragedy struck a Kapolei family vacationing in Fresno, California after a vehicle crash killed their 2-year-old son, Wednesday.

According to California Highway Patrol the Hawaii family's SUV crossed the centerline on an area highway and collided with a big rig hauling sand.
Family and friends tell Island News Liam Rivera was reported dead on the scene. His mom suffered critical injuries but is improving. The baby's dad and 3-year-old brother both suffered minor injuries.

Highway Patrol does not believe drugs or alcohol were involved. The Rivera's are in California for their older son's baseball tournament. His team is dedicating the rest of their games to young Liam.

"They were down at first. But now they're in good spirits. They know what happened. They know what they're here to play for now. These kids played their heart out for this boy, baby Liam," said KRU 10u baseball coach Francis Caliboso.
