Sarasota, FL : Bradenton man dies in motorcycle crash in Sarasota on Sunday, June 19, 2016
A Bradenton motorcyclist died after he struck a guardrail, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
Ryan Pignatelli, 32, died at 5 a.m. Sunday at Sarasota Memorial Hospital after suffering severe internal injuries.
At approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the area of Mound Street and Bayfront Drive, Sarasota, for a single motorcycle crash, according to police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge.
Pignatelli, police said, struck the guardrail and was thrown from the motorcycle.
According to police, the motorcycle continued southbound on Mound Street and came to a rest at the intersection of Palm Avenue and Mound Street. Pignatelli was awake, alert and speaking when officers and paramedics arrived on scene. Police said he was transported as a non-trauma status to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Later in the shift, officers responded to the hospital to check on the status of Pignatelli and learned he had severe internal injuries. Police said Pignatelli died at approximately 5 a.m.
Pignatelli’s next of kin has been notified. It’s unknown at this time if alcohol, drugs or speed were a factor in the crash, police said.
