Man killed after struck by two cars on Birmingham's Parkway

A man was struck by two cars and killed Tuesday night as he crossed Birmingham's busy Parkway East on foot.The accident happened about 6:10 p.m. in the 9700 block of Parkway East. A witness told Birmingham police the man ran from the east curb and into the right bumper of an oncoming, northbound SUV. He was thrown by that SUV into traffic, where he was then run over by another northbound vehicle.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said the victim is a 47-year-old man. His identity is being released pending the notification of his next of kin.
