Defiance County, OH : 2 hurt in crash on Ohio 111 near Hammersmith Road on Friday, 21st February, 2020

One man died and another was injured this morning in a two-vehicle crash C in Defiance County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said today.

The patrol said Fabian J. Aguilar, 33, of Oakwood, was driving south on Ohio 111 shortly before 11 a.m. when his car failed to negotiate a curve and drove left of center, colliding head-on with a pickup truck driven by Rex E. Wimmer, 75, of Defiance.

Aguilar was taken to Defiance Regional Medical Center, then to Promedica Toledo Hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries, the patrol said. It said Wimmer was taken to the medical center, then flown to Promedica Toledo, where he died this afternoon.

Seat belts were in use, the patrol said. It said Ohio 111 was closed for two hours while troopers investigated the crash.
