San Gabriel, CA : Rosemead man dies in San Gabriel after crashing car into palm tree Sunday night on August 3, 2014

A driver was killed when his car crashed into a large palm tree Sunday night. Coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter didn’t release the driver’s name because the man’s next of kin hasn’t been notified. Winter described the dead man as a 51-year-old Latino from Rosemead. The accident in the 8600 block of East Broadway in San Gabriel was reported at 8:40 p.m.. California Highway Patrol Officer S. Smith said the man was driving his 2013 Hyundai westbound on Broadway, west of La Presa Avenue at an unknown speed. “For reasons currently under investigation, (the motorist) made an unsafe turning movement to the left and subsequently struck a large palm tree on the south edge of the roadway,” Smith said in statement.
