Johnston, R.I : North Scituate woman dies in tractor-trailer accident on Monday, December 22, 2014
A North Scituate woman died early Monday after the car she was driving struck a tractor trailer Plainfield Pike.
Dorothea Beaumier, 71, was pronounced dead after being taken to Rhode Island Hospital following the 3:40 a.m. accident, Lt. Daniel Parrillo said.
Beaumier’s 2002 Mercury sedan plowed into the rear tires and undercarriage of a tractor trailer as it pulled out of Constantini Bros Transport at 2077 Plainfield Pike, Parrillo said. The police did not identify the truck driver Monday, but said he had not been charged.
The police closed Plainfield Pike to traffic early Monday as they investigated the collision.
It was unclear where Beaumier, who was wearing a seatbelt, was coming from at the time of the crash, Parrillo said.
The accident remains under investigation.
“It’s an unfortunate time for this to happen,” Parrillo said of the crash, just three days before Christmas.
