GRATIOT COUNTY, MI : 2 people airlifted from scene of Gratiot County crash on Osborn Road near M-46 in Seville Township on Thursday, 17th January 2019

Both people involved in a serious crash in Gratiot County on Thursday were airlifted from the scene.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. on Osborn Road near M-46 in Seville Township. Police say a Ford Taurus was heading south when the driver lost control and went into the ditch.

The car slammed into a tree, pinning the 20-year-old female driver and 32-year-old male passenger inside. The Alma Fire Department and Seville Rescue worked to extricate them from the car.

Helicopters flew both of the victims from the scene to area hospitals.

The Gratiot County Sheriff's Office said speed appears to be a factor in the crash. The Michigan State Police are assisting with the investigation.
