Nowata County, OK : 1 dead in Nowata County accident that closed U.S. Highway 60 near County Road 407, 5.5 miles west of Nowata on Tuesday, 4th June 2019

A Nowata woman was killed Tuesday following a head-on collision that closed U.S. Highway 60 near County Road 407, 5.5 miles west of Nowata.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Sheryl Burruss, 46, died at the scene of the accident after sustaining multiple injuries.

According to the OHP report, the collision occurred at 11:49 a.m. Tuesday. The exact nature of the incident is still under investigation as of Wednesday morning, the report said.

Troopers said a 2015 Toyota driven by Margie French, 64, of Lenapah, and a 1995 Toyota driven by Burruss were involved in the fatality accident when one of the vehicles went left of center.

French was transported from the scene via medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition with head, external and internal trunk, arm and leg injuries. Burruss was pronounced dead at the scene by Nowata EMS.
