Ellenton, FL : Driver dies in Ellenton crash on Saturday, 25th August 2018

One person was killed and four were injured in a crash Saturday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the FHP, a Chevrolet Suburban driven by Alvaro Romero-Zuniga, 55, of Palmetto was traveling south on 51st Avenue East, approaching U.S. 301. A Toyota Camry driven by Helen Gail Miller, 62, of Bradenton was traveling west on U.S. 301.

Both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time and collided. The status of the traffic signals is under investigation.

Miller, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where she died. Romero-Zuniga, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries. Three passengers, two children and an adult, also received minor injuries. All were wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
